All Sky Camera

The images are from an all sky camera based on a Raspberry Pi and HQ camera mounted on the roof of the trailer at Lockwood

  • The Live View button shows what the camera seeing roughly every minute. The Two Week Image Archive shows images for the past 2 weeks. Star trails, a Keogram* and time lapse from the previous night are also shown in the archive.

    • North is at top of the image (12 o’clock), West is to the right (3 o’clock), and East is to the left (9 o’clock).

    • The time lapse video, startrails, and keogram are updated around 7AM for the previous night. If a startrail image just shows a single shot, that means all of the images were too bright (typically if there is a full moon).

    • Depending on your browser configuration, you may have to download the time lapse before you can play it.

  • Images and video are stored for 2 weeks

*A Keogram is an image giving a quick view of the night activity. It was originally invented to study the aurora borealis. For each image taken during the night, a central vertical column 1 pixel wide is extracted and the columns are then stitched together from left to right. North is at the top of the Keogram.

*A Keogram is an image giving a quick view of the night activity. It was originally invented to study the aurora borealis. For each image taken during the night, a central vertical column 1 pixel wide is extracted. All these columns are then stitched together from left to right. This results in a timeline that reads from dusk to dawn. North is at the top of the Keogram.
